I have been eagerly awaiting this weekend not just for the bank holiday but because I have been wanting to do a post about the doilies for my wedding dress now there is getting to be quite a collection and I've been waiting on the arrival of a batch of doilies from my soon to be mother-in-law and her craft group.
They arrived today and in total I now have around 70 delightful little doilies ready to go on the final dress. They are all different and all stunning in their own way. This post is a celebration of them, I wanted to share some photos of the current doily stash and hold a little giveaway as a bit of a celebration. I have decided to give one of you lucky people a 'Big Book of Little Doilies' so you can enjoy making some of your own pretty little doilies. If your interested in the book (there are some photos at the end of this post) just use the Rafflecopter widget at the bottom to enter.
The doilies have all been done in the same cotton, with some crocheted and some tennerife lace. A huge thank you goes to the wonderfully skilled Caroline and her craft group and my incredibly talented neighbour Joy for their time and contributions. Here are some of my favourite so far.
Tennerife lace, one of my favourites as its the first Tennerife lace I've done since I learned how a couple of years ago, and I'm very pleased with how it turned out. |
I think this one is fab, it's really big, probably the biggest yet and I love the individual petals. |
I love the shape of this one, beautiful curves, reminds me of a shuttlecock, is that odd? |
What can I say, it's monogrammed, it's amazing! |
More Tennerife lace, actually done by someone in Tennerife! |
I like the combination of dense stitches and gaps on this one. |
Beautiful sunburst in Tennerife lace. |
To share the doily joy I am giving away a copy of 'Big Book of Little Doilies' designed by Patricia Kristofferson with 25 doily designs of different shapes and sizes. Just fill in the Rafflecopter widget below if you'd like to win. I have one copy of the book to give away and the winner will be chosen at random by rafflecopter on 18 May 2012. I'm happy to post outside the UK so don't let location put you off. Good Luck!
